Paul, In the the real world, as long as there is a demand for labor, they will come. I seriously doubt machine gun towers and landmines would stop them from coming here. Once they get here they don't want to go work back. I maintain the best option would be to allow them to work here, pay taxes here, all that. To do that, they need drivers licenses. Fact is, they need the work, and we need the labor. Many of those born and bred here simply won't work. I had to chuckle a bit at the comments Read More
Gold has no intrinsic motivation at work value. Movies have no intrinsic value. Novels have no intrinsic value. I know nothing about metallurgy but I would bet the value of the house I am in for the weekend that one of these metallurgists would correct the first sentence. Hold on at one time aluminium was worth more than gold. That was due to the cost of the electricity at the time. A Tsar had a crown made of aluminium. Logwood was pretty expensive until synthetic alternatives were Read More
I agree. Let?s not canonize the man after 1 major victory. He is 13 behind Tiger...17 behind Jack. Heck, Phil Michelson, the world?s #2 player for the past 15 years has only 4 majors. Winning golf majors is the hardest thing to do in sports. Some of the greatest to ever play the game have less then 6. Only two men in the history of the game have won majors in the double figures. That?s why Tiger and Jack?s accomplishments are so remarkable. I hope Rory wins 20 majors.....but history, Read More
Food would be tax free...so would some clothing items. Cutting income taxes and increasing sales taxes on luxury items would go a long way in bringing back the middle class. Look around you. Do you see anyone with much more than they need? If so, ask yourself, does that person look like Edison? Does he/she look like Einstein? Did they invent something that we can no longer live without? Do they make life easier anything at all? How would you describe their morals and values? Read More
These killings are so unnecessary. US has nothing how to communicate effectively gain by killing dirt poor Pathaans (calling themselves Talibans). And the Pathaans have only to dig the hole deeper for themselves and their future generations by fighting US soldiers. But the middlemen are making a fortune by keeping the two occupied. US administration and generals have completely failed to communicate to Pathaans about what they are doing in Afghanistan. Basic lesson is lost on US: If Read More
This advice sounds like talking withBP if they have any plans for their next off shore well. Banks and eliminate credit card debt card companies offer people a loan, exorbitant interest rates. They have good stats, on those who will pay the interest, to off set those who will be written off, as bad debt. Between credit card debt, and mortgages, way over the value of the property, orderly bankruptcy, is where people require counseling. Interest rates, people signed up for, is the life Read More
The only protectionism I engage in is continually improving my output and understanding of my field. If someone can come in and do my job as competently and is willing how to engage employees take less, then they're welcome to compete against me for it. The only reasonable response I can engage in is either increasing my value or decreasing my price. Here's a question for you - should we pass laws so your neighbor is not legally allowed to compete for your job? Or the guy in the next Read More
Environmental Health and Safety. And no, he had excellent grades and always delivers on jobs. Just not many jobs out there to apply to. No vacancies to create the kind of upward mobility Americans used to take for granted. When you pay your dues, shouldn't you be able to move up a little, eventually? My son is not an isolated example. America has an abundance of college educated people, and most of them are working in jobs where college really wasn't needed, but we were all told to Read More
Are we for the fetus and against the child? President Obama's healthcare leaders born or made reform now requires coverage for children born with pre existing conditions. If religious leaders view life, both born and unborn, as precious unlike some who equate life with property, i.e. Gov Huckabee, and want to repeal healthcare then maybe some religious leader feel a moral obligation to support the healthcare law. Knowing you are going to be parents of a child with born a medical condition Read More
In the instance of the Chinese mother vs the Western mother, there is a similarity that breed success. Both mother's were there for their children. The methods were different, but the children had attention paid how to get over a breakup them and new that they were cared about. Ultimately, they were able to internalize those feelings. The breakup of the Western family and the single parent households do not provide the child to develop the sense of care, love, and security that they Read More
